Have you ever stumbled upon a site and just got lost in it? Explore.org is just that type of site. I came upon it this weekend and 3 hours later I was still exploring it! Explore.org says it is "philanthropic based media to champion the selfless acts of others, create a portal into the soul of humanity and inspire lifelong learning." And they do just that. Explore.org has beautiful videos (embeddable and HD) about people who have gone out of their way to help others. What a great tool for morning meeting - show part or whole of a video and let that lead to a great discussion. Or have your students select a video and report on it during morning meeting and have them lead the discussion about what they learned from it. Make sure to preview the movie prior, most are fine but some I would consider more middle school than elementary.
Not only does Explore.org have fantastic HD videos, but they have wonderful webcams of Pandas, service dogs, Northern Lights, Polar Bears, and many more. Primary students as well as middle schoolers will love watching the live camera feed.
Have fun exploring explore.org!
